Day 1, Venice. Arrive at Venice and transfer on your own to your hotel.
Explore the city today, and get into the feeling of being in the city once known as the “Drawing room of Europe”. This evening, you can take part in a “Venetian evening with Music”. Enjoy this simpatico evening at a typical 18th Century Venetian Tavern. After dinner, we suggest a walk to Piazza San Marco and enjoy the music and a nightcap at “Florian’s Café”. Overnight
Day 2, Venice. Today, embark on a real exploration of the city of Venice. Take an escorted walking tour of this gem of a city, visiting sights such as Piazza San Marco and the Basilica with its famed golden mosaics; The Baptistery, the Doge’s Palace, the Prisons and the Bridge of Sighs. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure (shopping) or perhaps taking in other optional tours, such as visiting the Venetian Islands of Murano (Glass Blowing), Burano (Lace making) and Torcello (the once capital city of the republic of Venice). Overnight
Day 3, Venice-Florence. This morning depart by train to Florence. Check into your hotel and enjoy a leisurely day discovering some of the beautiful art works of this city, known as the “Cradle of the Renaissance” or why not do some shopping on Ponte Vecchio for fine jewellery or at one of the many attractive stores for some fine Florentine leather goods. Overnight.
Day 4, Florence. This morning embark in a guided tour of the city. Visit the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, with the homonymous beautiful Dominican church (inside visit*) where you can appreciate great masterpieces such as Brunelleschi’s Crucifix, and Masaccio’s Trinity. This tour also visits the Croce al Trebbio, Palazzo Strozzi, Palazzo Davanzati and the fourteenth-century Palagio di Parte Guelfa by Brunelleschi, the Ponte Vecchio, Piazzale degli Uffizi, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, Dante Alighieri’s Home and Church, and Piazza della Repubblica, where our tour ends. Overnight.
Day 5, Florence-Rome. This morning take the train to Rome where you can do some shopping or perhaps visit some sights at your leisure. In the afternoon you could take an optional tour of “Imperial Rome”: see Piazza Venezia, continue on foot to the famous Piazza del Campidoglio, designed by Michelangelo from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Roman Forums. On this tour you will proceed to view the Circus Maximus, and the Pyramid of Caius Cestius before arriving at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls for a visit. The tour will be completed with a stop at the imposing Colosseum. Overnight.
Day 6, Rome. This morning you will be escorted on a tour of the “Eternal City”. See Piazza della Repubblica, the Aurelian walls, Piazza del Popolo. Upon arrival at the Vatican walls, your guide will guide you into the Vatican Museums. You will walk up the beautiful Spiral Staircase and continue through the Tapestries Gallery of the Geographical Maps. You will then enter the famous Sistine Chapel with its magnificent fresco of the Last Judgement by Michelangelo. Rest of day is at leisure for your own activities. Overnight.
Day 7, Rome. Today explore Rome at your own leisure, perhaps sit at an out-door cafe` to enjoy a cappuccino and get involved in the Italian “dolce vita”. Overnight
Day 8, Rome. End of your tour. Either proceed to the airport for your return flight back to Canada or extend your stay by adding some more exciting visits of Italy’s other cities and resorts. Please ask your travel agent about other Manditours packages and tours.
